Welcome to Lautoka

The shed says it all. Boy, were we glad to see this, our first entry port.

Drying out at Vuda Point Marina

Everything had to be hosed down to get rid of the salt encrustation. The small sail at the front of the boat was flown quite frequently on the trip - anything else was too much power.

Madman

Now if you think we are mad sailing around the world in a small boat, take a look at the one in the foreground. It is from Southampton in the UK!

The Curse of Vuda Point Marina!

The cunning red-arsed banana thief! (AKA bulbils) Working in pairs, they can strip a boat of fruit in minutes.

Ahhh, this is more like it!

Navadra Island, Mamanutha Group

Just bloody gorgeous!

Local fishermen

Navadra Island. The canoe is corrugated iron, the dark spot in the water a school of sardines.

Looks like we got us a convoy!

Kiwi flotilla. From left: Ladymink, Aurora Lights & Beyond. Flocerfida and Windanzee piked out the day before.

Hey honey! Guess what's for dinner...

and breakfast & lunch & dinner...

We always managed to catch fish whilst negotiating very tricky reef passes.

The Great Turtle Island Invasion 2006

OK, so we know the sign says "Private Property, No Trespassing" and it costs, ohhh, 5 gazillion dollars a night to stay, and Britney & K-Fed honeymooned there, but we just couldn't resist...

The local freeway to the supermarket...

...which led to The Farm

Source of crunchy green stuff (and more pawpaws than you could shake a stick at) for yachties. Blue Lagoon, Yasawa Group

Wet groceries again!

And you think you have it tough trying to find a carpark by the door at the supermarket.

Sawa I Lau Caves

Once a trader...

This is what Bruce scored for some kayak glue - lobster, yam & cassava. We ate well that night.

Wildcard!

Captain Fatty & Carolyn Goodlander from Wildcard aboard Daemon while interviewing us for Cruising World magazine.

The photo we hope Cruising World will use...

... and the one we suspect they'll use.
